BORED WITH POLITICS?  TRY YOUR HEAD AT "SPOT THE FALLACY"

FULTON'S COMMENTARY ON THIS ARTICLE:

One of the more frightening aspects of America's current political scene is the extent to which fundamental issues are not discussed and important news is not reported by the mainstream press.

Every adult in this country was once a child and it is what these adults learned as youngsters that is coming home to roost in America.  Baby boomers, as they are called, were taught, in the 60's and 70's, that there are no absolutes, no right and wrong, that truth is unobtainable, that ideas do not have consequences.

If a young person accepts such ideas, does he become an adult concerned about right and wrong, about the truth or the consequences of his actions?   No.  Instead, he becomes an individual whose eyes are firmly fixed on the safety and comfort of the moment, oblivious to what the future holds for him.

Who will benefit from this reckless disregard for truth and consequences on the part of so many in this country?  Statists.  The basic premises of statism are firmly entrenched in the minds of a majority and, as long as they are, America will continue down the road of vanishing freedom.  Statists benefit from all of the personal scandals and personal attacks, since it diverts the public's attention from the issues which desperately need to be addressed.

Charley Reese catalogs some of the ways most fall into the self-inflicted blindness which is characteristic of our era.
