"BRAIN STORM": A LOOK AT THE FUTURE OF HATE

FULTON'S COMMENTARY ON THIS ARTICLE:

As George Will's column makes clear, we already have significant restrictions on freedom of speech as the result of legislation which outlaws various kinds of discrimination.  Clinton is now pushing for new federal legislation covering so-called hate crime.  Hate-crime legislation makes certain thoughts criminal.  If you haven't read my June 28, 1998, column, HATE CRIME, I suggest you do so.

Hate-crime legislation already on the books has established the precedent that certain ideas may be criminalized, outlawed, by statists.  If this precedent is not overturned, it will sweep through this country, eventually bringing totalitarian rule to America.

I urge you to contact your Congressman and Senators to ask them to oppose this newly proposed legislation regarding hate crime.
