The piecemeal destruction of freedom in health care is, not surprisingly, occurring under the auspices of a Republican Congress. Trapped by their inconsistencies, Republicans are gradually bringing us what Clinton originally attempted to accomplish in one fell swoop: socialized medicine. Inch by inch, statists are moving America toward totalitarianism in health care. Republicans are impotent in opposing this march toward tyranny because they have not rejected the basic premises of statism, leading them to compromise on fundamental principles.
Conrad Meier's article provides a detailed look at exactly how this process of compromise has worked, bringing us less freedom with each cave-in by Republicans.
